Foundation Medicine 2020 Internship Program

Foundation Medicine’s internship program offers students the chance to help us transform cancer care. Our 10 to 12-week summer program allows interns to use their passion to drive change. In addition to making an impact through their work, students will have a chance to learn about Foundation Medicine and how the innovative and collaborative work we do every day is helping to make precision medicine a reality for patients. Interns will be based in either our Cambridge or Boston Seaport location. Opportunities are offered in a number of different departments across the company such as: Lab Operations, Cancer Genomics, Data Strategy & Product Development, Technology, and Business Support Services.

What are the requirements of Foundation Medicine’s Internship Program?

Internships are full time roles lasting typically 10-12 weeks in the summer and offered to students currently enrolled in a degree program. We hire at all degree levels: Bachelors, Masters and PhD. We accept applications from international students, but visa sponsorship support varies by position and department. All internships are paid, so you must be legally authorized to work in the United States during your internship.

When is the internship program?

We offer two start dates for you to choose from. Interns may start either Tuesday, May 26 or Monday, June 8, 2020. Most interns will work through Friday, August 14, 2020. There is some flexibility around the end date to be extended or to be a little sooner.

What can I expect during my internship at Foundation Medicine?

Interns will gain a greater understanding of Foundation Medicine through challenging project-based work, Lunch & Learn programs with company executives, and the chance to connect with all employees by attending many other company-wide events. 

Are internships paid?

Yes, all internships are paid roles. In addition to an hourly rate, we also pay for an MBTA monthly T pass (subway) or commuter rail pass depending on your commuting needs for the duration of the internship.

Are international students eligible to apply?

Yes, international students are eligible to apply. However, visa sponsorship support varies by position and department. All internships are paid, so you must be legally authorized to work in the United States during your internship.

What is the hiring timeline for summer internships?

Summer internships for 2020 will be posted in early January. Some positions will have a deadline of late January and others in early February. Most offers will be made by the end of March.

How do I apply for an internship?

Students must apply to the internship role of interest directly via the Foundation Medicine Careers site

Is a student who has graduated and will not be returning to school eligible for the internship program?

No. The internship program is for students currently enrolled in a degree granting program. If you are not enrolled in school, we recommend that you search our open full-time roles.
