About the Job

The Vice President, Clinical Development leads the Clinical Development function and is a member of the medical leadership team and enterprise-wide leadership committees. The incumbent is responsible for the development of new applications of FMI’s tests and serves as the medical liaison with pharmaceutical partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Clinical Development function, including continuous development of long-range planning for all FMI Clinical Development and Evidence Generation activities.
  • Supervise the planning and execution of Clinical Development Plans (CDPs) for FMI’s core products including Monitoring, Tissue Franchise, Liquid Comprehensive Genomic Profiling (CGP), CGP Biomarkers.
  • Work closely with members of Senior Leadership Team and Executive Team. Serve on enterprise-wide decision-making committees to influence FMI decisions and actions.
  • Define product profile, plan, and initiate key studies to support adoption and reimbursement for FMI’s portfolio of tests.
  • Collaborate with our business development teams in supporting our partnerships with biopharmaceutical companies and other corporate partners.
  • Integrate into Foundation Medicine’s medical and research & development teams to support publications and assessment of new technologies.
  • Support Foundation Medicine’s regulated products team as the company continues to prepare for future FDA oversight.
  • Build and strengthen our relationship with key opinion leaders in support of clinical evidence generation activities. 
  • Build and strengthen our relationships with cancer cooperative groups and cancer consortiums designing and conducting clinical trials, particularly in the area of new assays.
  • Design and conduct clinical trials to gather outcomes data on our tests, demonstrating the clinical validity of our tests, including benefits for payers.
  • Build value into our new products and tests.
  • Influence both internal and external audiences in a high impact, highly visible role as you actively contribute to the dynamic and innovative culture within Foundation Medicine.
  • Work with your colleagues in Foundation Medicine’s Data team to build the capabilities of the Foundation Medicine/Flatiron Health clinicogenomic database (CGDB).
  • Design and conduct innovative clinical trials that leverage CGDB, increase the actionability of molecular information, and speed new therapeutic development.
  • Externally present FMI clinical research programs.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage a highly functional and productive team.
  • Strategically deploy FMI Clinical Trials budgets and partner with Roche international on international trial designs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD/DO) or PhD
  • 15+ years of progressive work experience in drug development or diagnostic development in the cancer domain

Preferred Qualifications

  • History of implementing successful organizational strategy in alignment with an organization’s values and vision, with strong impact to organization and customers
  • Extensive management and leadership experience, including the ability to create an engaging and inclusive team environment and successfully manage and develop individual performance of team members
  • Strong business acumen, and history of progressive responsibilities in an Executive capacity
  • Outstanding analytical, organization, and business management expertise and skill set
  • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy
  • Commitment to reflect FMI’s values of Passion, Collaboration, Patients and Innovation
