About the Job

The Product Manager works as part of a new product team, focused on improving blood-based cancer diagnostic capabilities in areas such as cancer detection, minimum residual disease, and other related applications. This team is comprised of talent from across the Roche ecosystem, including Roche Diagnostics, Roche Pharma and Foundation Medicine, operating as a single unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy
    • Assist in the design and maintain, in close collaboration with other members of the team, in support of a three-year strategy and roadmap for early detection.
    • Periodically re-visit and continuously improve the platform strategy based on research and evaluation.
    • Identify technical and resource allocation gaps based on overall product goals and implement a plan to meet those needs.
  • Product Execution
    • Write clear and detailed technical user stories based on user feedback and project goals, collaborate and communicate feature requests to teams in a fast paced, Agile environment.
    • Actively manage the team's backlog and elaborate on user stories where needed.
    • Document product requirements and execute upon initiatives to ensure the requirements meet the needs of the business and larger corporate initiatives.
    • Coordinate and participate in development activities, including daily standups, backlog grooming, retrospectives, sprint planning, and other scrum ceremonies.
    • Answer technical questions from developers, scrum masters, or others on the team to remove blockers and facilitate efficient development.
    • Break down complex business needs into smaller, more digestible chunks of work.
    • Provide guidance and support to external teams and business partners on product capabilities and product roadmap.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders and the Quality Assurance Team to build User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, define UAT approach, and represent requirements as user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
    • Interface with the User Experience Team to translate requirements into mocks.
    • Assist in preparing status updates and presentations.
    • Compile software validation documentation.
    • Assist in testing the application based on understanding of necessary functionality and user requirements.
    • Assist on-boarding new resources and introducing them to products and product goals.
    • Communicate and negotiate with the business to set and maintain priorities.
    • Support roadmap development for the product and its execution.
    • Facilitate and guide requirements definition workshops with key client application users.
    • Lead requirement gathering efforts on:
      • Process/processes;
      • Requirements;
      • Legacy systems; and,
      • Application Mapping
    • Continuously build, refine, and prioritize a product backlog.
    • Participate in the Scrum Team process as motivator and individual contributor.
    • Quickly respond to questions and requests from the Scrum Team to ensure team sprint commitments are met.
    • Transform business requirements to clear and comprehensive functional specifications.
    • Communicate with stakeholders regarding product and services feedback, feature requests, and gathering customer requirement.
    • Analyze and track key performance indicators of existing and new features to evaluate usefulness to the customer.
    • Other duties as periodically assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in software product or project management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in a science and/or technology field
  • Experience building out high throughput lab or billing systems
  • 4+ years of experience in a product, project management, customer success role or a position with product or project management responsibilities
  • Strong experience in the User Acceptance Testing
  • Experience working with ALM tools in an Agile development environment
  • Experience working with health-care applications and data, specifically in the context of data access/transfer, compliance, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Previous experience with genomics or oncology data and workflows
  • Strong understanding of QMS/Regulations/Agile/SCRUM
  • High degree of technical competency
  • Extensive modern technology stack experience and history of facilitating discussion with engineering teams resulting in best product decisions for platforms
  • Strong team results focus with and ability to share the vision of a product with a team and stakeholders as well as achieve measurable results
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated history of project leadership across functions and teams including design, engineering, marketing, sales, business development and finance
  • Prior product management experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
