ABOUT THE JOB

The Architect III serves as an architectural leader for two large portions of FMI’s technical base and is responsible for coordinating all architectural needs pertinent to those areas, their designated engineering teams, platforms and associated assets. The position actively drives major strategy architectural initiatives in addition to designing and implementing cloud-native, resilient, secure and highly scalable technical solutions that address all aspects of system design. The position defines software engineering architectural projects to allow sophisticated analysis at scale for FMI’s clinical, biopharma and research partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical discussions in various engineering teams and communicate basic architectural designs to the engineering teams.
  • Lead major strategic architectural initiatives.
  • Lead the implementation of software frameworks for FMI, including but not limited to:
    • Guardrails;
    • Toolsets; and
    • Standards for compliance and security.
  • Define architectural strategies and components that support engineering standards, quality and security, as well as regulatory compliance.
  • Present solutions in cross-functional team meetings.
  • Create and document proposals to address organizational challenges.
  • Lead research and Proof of Concepts in collaboration with various FMI teams.
  • Document technical decisions and production designs.
  • Mentor junior architects.
  • Build coding templates.
  • Review junior architects work relative to passing CCPA, HITRUST, HIPAA, other regulations pertinent to security and patient data privacy.
  • Other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in software engineering, development, architecture, or a related technology discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational technology.
  • Proficiency in NoSQL implementation and in queue based technologies.
  • Experience in cloud development, data services, and microservices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related technology discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible software engineering experience.
  • Experience with all of the following:
    • Two warehouse or data lake implementation.
    • At least 5 production system in the Cloud.
    • At least 2 NoSQL data stores.
  • Deep experience with at least 2 of the following: Python, NodeJS and/or Java.
  • Deep experience with multiple NoSQL or memory-based data stores.
  • Strong leadership skillset and history or demonstrated ability leading teams.
  • Expert in CDC and messaging tools.
  • Implement at least 1 system that meets of CCPA, HITRUST, HIPAA, other regulations pertinent to data security, and the importance of patient data privacy.
