About the Job

The Chief of Staff (CoS), People Team is a strategic partner and thought leader for the People Team function. This position is responsible for improving current processes and coordinating organizational procedures to optimize communication, workflows, resource management, efficiency and productivity. As a member of the People Leadership Team (PLT), the incumbent collaborates with the Chief People Officer and the broader PLT to support with strategic alignment. The CoS, People Team is responsible for streamlining high importance projects and conducting leadership-level internal and external initiatives that have a very significant impact on the company’s business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the People Team (PT) in the CoS community and on any ‘enterprise-wide’ initiatives requiring CoS leadership.

• Design, deliver and execute formal communication plan for full People Team, including a variety of different channels to achieve different objectives.

• Partner with the PLT to develop and maintain end-to-end annual PT planning calendar for enterprise-wide initiatives – performance reviews / promotion cycle / comp actions.

• Working with PLT, design & facilitate workshops / programs and “ways of working” to increase effectiveness of PLT (i.e. operating norms and behaviors and feedback mechanisms to ensure they are continuing to move toward being and sustaining a high performing team approach)

• Track and monitor progress on all People Team OKR’s.

• Lead a task team effort to audit all processes across the People Team and work to identify road map, prioritize the documentation of SOP’s that are most business critical across the People Team.

• Track, monitor, and manage actions via PT survey results (e.g., engagement survey, all-hands follow ups, etc.).

• Partner with IT on all People Team related initiatives / roadmap.

• Working with the PLT, design programs and initiatives specifically for the People Team to drive engagement / ANDEngage model for the team.

• Collaborate with Finance to manage PT budget (AOP).

• Lead community engagement activities / philanthropy efforts.

• Be responsible for project management on confidential projects on behalf of CPO and PLT.

• Manage People Team QBR, coordination as needed for Enterprise and Roche QBR content.

• Act as lead for Corporate People and Culture Objective – FMI Works.

• Create agenda’s / slides / speaking points for all PLT meetings / All Hands PT meetings/Offsite/Teambuilding and other related meetings as required.

• Lead the development of supporting communications and collateral to keep our People Team mission and model and brand alive with the People Team and out in the business.

• Partner with members of the PLT to support them on unique and special projects relevant to their area of responsibility.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree

• 10+ years of experience working in; or broad understanding of the Human Resources or Operational Excellence, Finance, Communications, or applicable functions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree, such as a Master of Business Administration or PMP Certification

• 5+ years of professional experience in the life sciences industry

• 3+ years of experience in a Chief of Staff role or equivalent leadership capacity

• Experience working in highly cross-functional teams

• Demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing operational improvements

• Experience developing and managing a department budget and partnering with finance staff on monthly financial reconciliation

• Experience leading and managing strategic initiatives

• History of using advanced program and project management skills; including planning and execution; ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously within aggressive timeframes with minimal oversight

• History of handling highly sensitive matters with the utmost consideration for confidentiality

• Ability to multi-task continually and flex based on business needs and requirements

• Ability to lead through change in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills

• Excellent facilitation capability

• Highly collaborative in a dynamic environment

• Excellent organization and attention to detail

• Process excellence, project management, process improvement mindset

• Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
