Collaboration Engineer II

About the Job

The Collaboration Engineer II oversees the daily operation, coordination, execution, and support of the audiovisual systems and other conference center technology within Foundation Medicine’s multi-campus environment. This position has a technical background in the audiovisual industry and excellent customer service skills. The Collaboration Engineer II has the ability to troubleshoot audio, video, and control system problems and has a familiarity with major brands of audiovisual systems and components. Some travel to other Foundation Medicine offices within the United States is required.

Regular onsite work at a designated FMI location is an essential function of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest levels of customer service in a collaborative environment having a keen focus on helping people resolve issues and problems in a multi–campus environment across the United States.
  • Maintain our AV Event and Conference Rooms and ensure they are functional on a day to day basis resolving operational and cosmetic issues in a timely manner.
  • Oversee AV events and ensure we deliver a high-quality experience for both local and remote participants.
  • Setup equipment in conference rooms and perform quality control checks.
  • Edit presentations for internal distribution using the latest in technology and equipment.
  • Build documentation to reinforce the process and policies we have regarding AV best practices and room management.
  • Experience with projectors, projection screens, video displays, cabling, and rack wiring.
  • Use of hand tools including crimp and compression tools.
  • Work closely with our networking/ collaboration team.
  • Coordinate support between vendors and users.
  • Work with IT and Procurement to develop and manage AV vendor contracts.
  • Play the role of “train the trainer” for the IT Service Desk.
  • Maintain availability to work outside of regularly scheduled shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or other related field
  • 2+ years of experience providing AV support

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
  • 5+ years experience in supporting and administering video conferencing tools; Crestron, Logitech UC
  • Industry certifications such as CTS, Crestron, AMX, or Zoom
  • Experience with the following platforms, but not limited to, Zoom, WebEx, Polycom, Cisco, MS Teams, Skype, GoToMeeting, Lifesize, and Google Meets
  • Experience with Windows 10, Mac O/S, and mobile devices
  • Experience working in a ticketing system
  • Knowledgeable with control systems, audio distribution, cisco codecs & infrastructure a/v equipment
  • Basic knowledge of IP networks and video conferencing protocols
  • Ability to read and understand wiring drawings
  • Ability to discuss collaboration technology with technical and non-technical staff members
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
