The FMI Internship Program is offered to students currently registered in a degree program. It is a 10-12 week summer commitment, Full Time, 40 hours/week. Interns will gain a greater understanding of FMI through challenging project based work, Lunch & Learns with company executives, and the chance to connect with all employees by attending many other company-wide events. 

About The Job

The Intern, Decision Sciences supports research to enable the design of clinical decision support systems leveraging comprehensive genomic profiling to inform personalized therapeutic recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature reviews and/or guided research in areas relevant to decision sciences, including:
    • Preference sensitivity in clinical decision making;
    • Assessments of clinical utility and information actionability;
    • Data summaries and visualizations to communicate evidence from both clinical trials and real-world data;
    • Causal inference methods for evidence synthesis; and,
    • Simulation studies of operating characteristics for novel statistical designs.
  • Implement and interpret statistical analyses of clinical outcomes data to advance the goals of the Decision Sciences team.
  • Contribute to writing reports and scientific manuscripts.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Master’s Degree or PhD in public health, health economics, decision science, biostatistics, data science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience in statistics or a health care environment.
  • Proficiency programming in R, Python, or other scripting language.
  • Knowledge of and experience with one or more of the following:
    • epidemiology, including causal inference methods for observational real-world data (RWD) or real world evidence (RWE);
    • decision theory or familiarity with utility functions for decision-making;
    • value of information analyses;
    • decision quality metrics and development/evaluation of decision aids;
    • Bayesian statistics or interpretable machine learning;
    • clinical outcomes research using data from electronic health records (EHR).
  • Demonstrated passion for supporting patient-centered decision making.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy.
