Director, Assay Products Leader

About the Job

The Assay Products Leader is a key member of the BioPharma Team in Partner Solutions & Corporate Alliances, a group responsible for defining the strategic direction of FMI’s portfolio of offerings for biopharma partners and accelerating opportunities with biopharma partners to pull-through FMI’s solutions across drug development.

This role works collaboratively and cross-functionally with internal & external stakeholders and our BioPharma partners to drive the development & delivery of assay products that can address our partners' growing needs and ensure optimal product-market fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • LCT Leadership:
    • Represent the voice of our BioPharma (BP) customers at LCT and sub-team levels to provide guidance and recommendations to support meeting partner needs.
    • Lead cross-functional and BP working groups required to advance BP or LCT goals.
  • Biopharma strategy:
    • Support FMI strategic BP roadmap to ensure competitive advantage to support long term objectives for market leadership and product differentiation.
    • Ensure the overarching BP strategy appropriately leverages existing & future opportunities around our assay products.
    • In partnership with SIA&E (Strategic Insights, Analytics & Enablement), ensure FMI is keeping abreast of key technology, competitors, and business trends in the market.
    • Establish a distributed kit strategy that is integrated / complementary to FMI’s central testing portfolio and pipeline.
  • Strategic Partnership Management:
    • BP lead & strategic thought partner to the Distributed kit lifecycle team (LCT) contributing to the development, strategy & launch of Distributed CGP options for biopharma.
    • ​Engage partners as a subject matter expert and a trusted collaborator to drive partnership innovation, development & adoption of our assays​.
    • Drive development and delivery of the distributed kit offering in alignment with partner needs.
    • Drive collaboration with partners to develop studies that build product value.
    • Identify issues and resolutions for items affecting the business or our partnerships.
  • Product Management:
    • Create strategy for launch deliverables by defining Target Product Profile, value proposition and assist with initiating studies that support product adoption.
    • Shape & deliver together with Marketing, collateral & messaging for launch, changes or enhancements​.
    • Own and drive the definition of product related Objectives & Key Results (OKRs), prioritizing customer and business outcomes to be achieved.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time. 
  • Other projects as periodically assigned.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a scientific discipline
  • 10+ years marketing, Business Development, product or project management experience at a diagnostic company

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in business or scientific discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical, biotech or diagnostics industry
  • Depth of knowledge in oncology therapeutics and biomarker markets
  • Experience in alliance management and facilitating successful partnerships
  • Experience in biopharma or diagnostics
  • Strong understanding of diagnostics, drug development and commercialization
  • Ability to translate customer and market needs into product technical & strategic requirements
  • Demonstrated program or product management skills within the diagnostics or pharma industry
  • Successful product launch experience with clinical and/or biopharma stakeholders
  • Ability to influence cross-functionally and without authority
  • Experience working in dynamic and growing teams; demonstrated ability to operate and deliver in a fast-paced environment and with ambiguity
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, and the fast-paced changes that result in a precision medicine organization
  • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of privacy of patient data
