About the Job

The Director, Product Management is responsible for developing the global strategic marketing plan and marketing requirements for multiple pipeline diagnostic products, with a keen understanding of how these new entries will present challenges and opportunities for FMI’s broader portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the marketing strategy by developing strategic marketing plans for an FMI diagnostic product from a global perspective with a measurable impact on customer utilization and/or patient access.
  • Deliver and champion the portfolio strategy, ensuring it articulates a compelling vision and clear choices.
  • Develop and maintain messaging and product positioning.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive portfolio/product strategy that includes product requirements, pricing strategy, and launch logistics to accomplish business objectives
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, technology trends, identification and assessment of significant growth opportunities, and create strategies that deliver profitable market share.
  • Translate HEOR clinical value data into value messages for the brands.
  • Develop launch plans and strategies to ensure delivery of overall portfolio and business vision. Oversee the execution of launch plans, maintaining momentum, monitoring progress, and removing roadblocks where needed.
  • Identify and execute market research activities to drive business platform/portfolio decisions
  • Direct, use, and translate market research and customer insight to shape product/portfolio strategies. Responsible for influencing global LCT on the market requirements for FMIs portfolio.
  • Identify barriers to growth and develop strategies, and core programs to drive product awareness and market development to help commercial achieve their market growth objectives.
  • Drive ongoing evaluation of business model innovation opportunities.
  • Lead marketing requirements for potential future products and development of the target product profile (TPP). Serve as the champion and the voice of the customer internally to facilitate customer-driven trade-off decisions. Partner with Product Development to translate marketing and customer requirements into product requirements.
  • Develop business area mastery to include understanding of market segments, business model, analysis of key metrics that define success, forecasting sales and product demand, share performance, trends, competition, customer critical success factors and needs through interaction with customers for integration with programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure strategic co-development and subsequent alignment on strategy, positioning, and overall value proposition of the diagnostic product within the Global portfolio.
  • Influence organization and senior leadership to invest in innovative solutions to drive sustainable business growth.
  • Identify projects that are good portfolio fit and can be commercially successful at the very early stage of the portfolio process.
  • Partner closely with the Commercial and Biopharma organizations to capture key stakeholder needs as well as ensure alignment and fluid pull-through of strategy into execution.
  • Collaborate with peers and senior members of FMI Commercial and Global Portfolio Strategy (GPS) to set the overall objectives and long-range goals of FMI’s assay portfolio; make decisions that have significant impact on these objectives and goals.
  • Develop and lead execution of comprehensive commercial launch readiness and competitive response plans in partnership with cross-functional partners.
  • Lead and oversee product development and licensing and acquisition.
  • Use customer, market, and competitive data and assumptions to assess future opportunities and build business cases.
  • Spend time in the field to gain market and clinical insights, as well as build relationships with key stakeholders & thought leaders.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time, primarily, as per organization, state and/or federal guidance in relation to the pandemic.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in diagnostics or pharmaceuticals product marketing or product management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s of Business Administration or other advanced degree
  • Oncology experience, preferably within medical device or diagnostics
  • Globally-focused marketing or product management experience and a deep understanding of global healthcare trends, their implications to our business, and how to address them
  • Experience creating impactful strategic marketing plans and developing value propositions in the life-sciences space
  • Experience generating deep understanding of competitive products and related technologies
  • Experience building financial models representing complex market situations to facilitate data-driven decision making
  • Direct product launch experience including regulatory, access, marketing and sales
  • Experience building relationships with key customers, cross-functional partners, and external business partners
  • Experience in next-generation sequencing technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
