Intern, Procurement; Corporate Management and Strategy (MBA)

About the Job

The Intern, Procurement contributes to assigned procurement and finance-related projects spanning Lab Operations, Marketing, Communications, Technology, Facilities, and periodically other departments.

The FMI Internship Program is offered to students currently registered in a degree program. It is a 10-12 week summer commitment, Full Time, 40 hours/week. Interns will gain a greater understanding of FMI through challenging project-based work, Spotlight Speaker Series with company executives, and the chance to connect with all employees by attending many company-wide events.

Foundation Medicine is unable to consider candidates that will require visa sponsorship now, or in the future, for this specific role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct spend analysis and project management support for corporate and category Request for Information activity.
  • Develop comprehensive procurement strategies and programs that improve quality, productivity, sustainability and innovation and defined categories.
  • Develop aligned procurement expertise in procurement fundamentals and categories.
  • Gain exposure to category contracts and supplier management.
  • Gather and analyze data to provide meaningful insights into category and supplier spend to help design category strategies.
  • Help develop and support sustainable small business diversity plan across FMI.
  • Assess options and make business recommendations to align key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the review and analysis of new business systems and business processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program pursuing an MBA
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, biological sciences, biomedical engineering or a healthcare field
  • Prior life science or healthcare industry experience
  • Prior experience in the biopharmaceutical, medical device or diagnostics industry
  • Familiarity with market research and/or statistical analysis
  • Previous marketing experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and remain flexible with changing priorities
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information
