LIMS Developer

About the Job

The Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Developer architects, develops, and supports configuration and customization of a cutting-edge, commercially available LIMS which is in use facilitating the efficient processing of work and information in FMI’s laboratories. This position works closely across teams to create and support technology solutions within or connected to the LIMS to improve laboratory processes and enhance laboratory tracking. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory LIMS Software.
  • Interact with LIMS vendor, laboratory and informatics team members to define business requirements including automation engineering and business informatics requirements.
  • Ensure that quality software development best-practices are followed including
    • Change control
    • Installation Qualifications (IQ), Operational Qualifications (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) processes and documentation
  • Participate in the continuous process improvement of Lab Information Technology solutions.
  • Provide training and technical support to colleagues throughout the business on the use of LIMS tools and software.
  • Maintain documentation, including training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), test scripts, and version control.
  • Participate in and conduct regular peer design and code reviews.
  • Respond to requests for subject matter expert support pertaining to the LIMS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in LIMS configuration, development, validation and/or maintenance in a regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sapio
  • Experience with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments adherent, clinical laboratory environment and NGS systems
  • Experience with Java applications is desired, javascript and/or python experience
  • Experience with relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Working knowledge of UNIX-like operating systems
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience developing formal technical specifications
  • Experience with lab information technology systems architecture and integration
  • Self-starter with a detail-oriented approach
  • Track record of successful project planning and meeting milestones
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Team-player who thrives on working creatively in a dynamic fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, team environment
