The People Strategy & Talent Acquisition Manager (PSTAM), in partnership with the People Strategy Leaders (PSL) and Talent Acquisition Team, operationalizes the people strategy in the business unit to support achievement of strategic imperatives and objectives. The PSTAM provides consultation and support to managers and leaders through the development and delivery of human resources and talent solutions that drive business value.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the business:
  • Understand the industry, the competitive landscape, and Foundation Medicine’s current and future revenue streams.
  • Contribute to the development of a people strategy that supports the needs of FMI and the Penzberg business unit and execute against that strategy.
  • Engage people value levers to enable and advance the organization’s performance.
  • Champion and steward FMI's unique culture.
  • Ensure that FMI’s people first objectives are prioritized and realized in the day-to-day operation of the business.
  • Help build the Penzberg team:
  • Source, screen and schedule candidates.
  • Possess knowledge about typical German notice periods and hiring practices.
  • Work with hiring managers to create job descriptions for Penzberg based roles.
  • Assist Penzberg leadership team in hiring planning.
  • Liaise with US Talent Acquisition team on requisitions.
  • Liaise with US Talent Acquisition team on best practices, processes, and training.
  • Lead Employer Branding strategy and work for Penzberg site.
  • Manage external vendors (staffing firms, Xing, Kununu).
  • Coaching and Advice:
  • Build and maintain trust, strong relationships, and credibility across the People Team and within the business.
  • Apply subject matter expertise to address business problems and develop creative solutions collaboratively.
  • Consult and advise managers on people decisions, leveraging best practices, and organizational guidance.
  • Practice sound judgment in identifying escalation paths to other members of the People Team or to external counsel.
  • Field and respond to employee and manager inquiries as needed.
  • Ensure Delivery of HR and Talent Solutions:
  • Ensure delivery of established people processes and programs, including: talent acquisition, retention, engagement, compensation, performance, learning & development, talent review, succession, people movement, rotation programs, management and leadership, organizational design, teambuilding, communication.
  • Provide support to Managers and/or People Strategy Leaders for unique business unit needs, partnering with the People Team COEs as appropriate. This work may include: onboarding resources, facilitating multi-rater feedback, career architecture work, competency modeling, communications, and supporting reorganizations.
  • Collaborate with PSLs, COEs, and People Solutions to develop and implement functional programs, policies and practices that meet the needs of FMI and the business unit.
  • Serve as HR lead for site-specific needs, connecting staff to the appropriate People Team members.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible HR experience in more than one functional area of Human Resources
  • Experience sourcing and hiring talent in the DACH region
  • Fluent in both German and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other master’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience as a human resources generalist
  • Experience working in a US based company
  • Prior experience as an HR lead for a function, client group, or site location
  • Previous Experience:
    • Consulting and partnership with senior leaders and managers
    • Exercising sound judgement and demonstrated ability to balance the needs of the People Team with the needs of the business
    • Collaborating with HR COE partners to develop programs and solutions that support business needs
    • Building trusting relationships with employees, managers, and leaders at all levels of the organization
    • Leading change and acting as a change champion
    • Listening to problems and ideas, and clearly articulating solutions
  • Demonstrated understanding of all areas and departments of the business, and how HR can benefit these aspects
  • Strong understanding of GDPR compliance regulations and required activities
  • Flexibility, comfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, rapidly growing and innovative business
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable presenting on various HR topics to employees and managers
  • Understanding of the importance of employee and company data privacy
