About the Job

The Intern, Product Management assesses a specific market opportunity and conducts a situational analysis as part of a team shaping a new product strategy, requiring collaboration with cross functional team members and other groups within FMI to develop and produce the final deliverable.

The Intern collaborates with a cross functional lifecycle team working to develop strategy for new product introductions in the oncology market targeting laboratory test providers. Areas the intern may explore as part of their project might include pricing, competitive landscape, software, user experience and opportunities for leveraging secondary data. Specific details on the scope of the project are defined based on the competency and interest of the candidate together with the current need of the lifecycle team.

The FMI Internship Program is offered to students currently registered in a degree program. It is a 10-12 week summer commitment, Full Time, 40 hours/week. Interns will gain a greater understanding of FMI through challenging project based work, Lunch & Learns with company executives, and the chance to connect with all employees by attending many other company-wide events.

This team is currently working remotely, but when working in office is based in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Marketing

·   Work with the product Life Cycle Leaders to identify goals and develop a project plan.

·   Develop hypotheses to test.

·   Build a market research plan, conduct primary research, and collect secondary research.

·   Synthesize data to identify key trends and challenges in the marketplace.

·   Develop content that represents research findings in a succinct, easy to understand format.

·   Seek feedback from internal and external stakeholders to validate findings or suggest changes.

·   Assess findings and confirm hypotheses.

·   Make recommendations within the context of FMI’s strategy.

·   Review recommendations with Life Cycle Leaders.

·   Present findings and recommendations to the Commercial Leadership Team.

·   Other projects as assigned.

• Product Strategy

·   Partner with the Tissue Life Cycle Leader to review current lifecycle team (LCT) strategy gap analysis.

·   Identify key gaps and develop plan to address.

·   Build a research plan, including assessments of the market, technology, and FMI capabilities.

·   Interview key internal and external stakeholders as part of the overall research.

·   Aggregate assessments to determine viable strategic options, recommend, and justify a strategy.

·   Build content that presents the options and the chosen strategy in a succinct, easy to understand format.

·   Seek feedback from internal and external stakeholders to validate findings or suggest changes.

·   Integrate recommended strategy within the context of the overall LCT strategy.

·   Review recommendations with the Tissue Lifecycle Leader.

·   Present findings and recommendations to the Tissue LCT.

·   Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Currently a first year student pursuing an MBA

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or biomedical engineering

• 2+ years of work experience in an analytical, problem-solving function

• Prior experience developing corporate or product strategies

• Experience in the biopharmaceutical, medical device or diagnostics industry

• Demonstrated self-sufficiency, creative problem solving, and ability to execute in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment

• Familiarity with market research, healthcare marketing, and statistical or data analysis

• Ability to multi-task and remain flexible with changing priorities

• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive company matters

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate and communicate with a variety of audiences (levels, functions, backgrounds)

• Business acumen and comfort dealing with ambiguity

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
