About the Job

The Product Manager for FMI’s Real-World Data Applications and Services plays a crucial role on a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, cancer biologists, data scientists, and business stakeholders to manage FMI’s portfolio of software products and analytical services that are used by over 100 internal and external stakeholders to query and analyze one of the largest genomic datasets in the world and one of the largest clinico-genomic databases in the world. This position consolidates perspectives from internal and external clinical researchers and key business stakeholders to develop near-term and long-term roadmaps for FMI’s RWD Applications and Services and executes against this roadmap in close collaboration with FMI’s Technology Product and Engineering Team. This PM will be the ‘face of the product’ for existing customers, prospective customers, as well as for senior leadership team members within FMI.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Strategy

• Design and/or maintain, in close collaboration with other members of the Real-World Data Solutions team, a three-year strategy and roadmap for Foundation Medicine’s software platforms and analytical services that leverage the FoundationCORE genomic database and Flatiron-FMI Clinico-genomic database.

• Manage the continued development and refinement of Foundation Medicine’s RWD applications and services strategy

• Periodically re-visit and and otherwise continuously improve the RWD applications and services strategy based on research and evaluation.

• Define and track Product-specific Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) that fold into FMI’s Corporate Objectives and are reported across the organization on a monthly basis to ensure the health and growth of the RWD applications and services portfolio.

• Identify technical and resource allocation gaps based on overall data product goals and implement a plan to meet those needs.

• Product Execution

• In partnership with Commercial Teams and Biopharma teams, support commercialization and marketing of Real-World Data Applications and Services to clinical customers and biopharma customers, respectively – both in the United States and Internationally.

• Work in lock step with Technology Product and Engineering team to build FMI’s next generation of RWD Apps and Services, supporting product execution steps from building and testing prototypes to defining relevant data models to scaling and growing existing and novel solutions

• Product Research

• Conduct research in collaboration with the Data Product Marketing, Strategic Insights & Analytics, and Biopharma partners into the oncology market and its unmet customer needs.

• Leverage information gained from research efforts to recommend new product offerings and/or enhancements to current solutions.

• Other

• Present regularly to senior cross-functional stakeholders across R&D, Technology, Medical, Biopharma and Commercial to provide updates on RWD Apps & Services roadmap and obtain feedback on new product strategies and growth levers

• Participate in conferences and other activities that augment the Data & Insights Delivery team’s messaging in the industry.

• Other duties pertinent to product management as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Biological Science, or a technical field

• 3+ years of experience working in product management, data science, oncology, life sciences consulting, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working in product management, data science, oncology, life sciences consulting, or equivalent

• Proficiency in data analysis using programming languages such as Python, SQL, and R

• Experience with development of interactive data visualization tools using platforms such as Tableau, PowerBI, R Shiny or equivalent experience working with highly technical domain experts in the fields of computational biology, cancer genomics, or equivalent

• Experience as a statistician in academia or in the biopharmaceutical or diagnostics industry, academia, or FDA or PhD in Statistics (or Biostatistics)

• Extensive scientific understanding of cancer genetics and genomics

• Knowledge and experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)

• Experience working with health-care applications and data, specifically in the context of data access/transfer, compliance, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

• Experience with platform-level business thinking

• Extensive modern technology stack experience and history of facilitating discussion with engineering teams resulting in best product decisions for platforms

• Strong team results focus with and ability to share the vision of a product with a team and stakeholders as well as achieve measurable results

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Previous experience working with platform technologies in the support of externally facing applications, including Kafka and OAuth
