About the Job

The Senior Data Scientist role serves as a strategic partner to leaders in Global Portfolio Strategy, Commercial, Biopharma, and other lines of business across FMI. This position brings forward actionable and inspiring insights to spearhead critical business and addresses operational and strategic decisions with the goal of producing a strong positive impact on the organizational performance. The role focuses on solving complex business questions that require innovative framing, rigorous deep-dives, statistical analysis, and/or developing machine learning algorithms.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply your deep expertise in quantitative research and analysis, data science, and data storytelling to see beyond the raw data and understand how to improve FMI’s processes, customer journeys, and patient outcomes.

• Design best-in-class reporting and analytical solutions using a combination of SQL, BI tools, and Python to standardize operational, financial and sales KPIs creating a source of truth and driving self-service BI.

• Develop high quality supervised and unsupervised machine learning models for forecasting, opportunity sizing, customer segmentation, and targeting.

• Partner closely with business stakeholders to reframe business objectives and questions as data science activities that can deliver incisive analysis, drive decision-making, and promote effective business optimization.

• Analyze and connect large volumes of internal and external data to extract meaningful insights and identify trends in customer behavior, order volumes, operational and financial information.

• Present insights and recommendations clearly and concisely to all levels of business leaders and executive audiences.

• Lead stakeholder engagements to evangelize the value of data and analytics solutions and actively build new relationships identifying opportunities to improve the business.

• Continuously study trends in analytics and data science domains to ensure we always leverage best-in-class tools and techniques.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative field

• 5+ years of experience in the domain of data science, machine learning, bioinformatics, or other roles with strong emphasis on numerical fluency

• Proficiency in data modeling, machine learning and quantitative research experience using SQL, R, and Python

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and evaluating practical machine learning solutions to solve business problems

• Deep understanding of hypothesis testing, time series analysis, decision trees, survival analysis, Bayesian decision-making, and other statistical concepts

• Exceptional executive communication skills with an ability to distill complex ideas for high-level audiences

• Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
