About the Job

The Senior Director, BioPharma Assay Products Group Lead is a key member of the BioPharma Business Unit (BU) in Portfolio & Partner Solutions, a group responsible for defining the future direction of FMI’s portfolio of offerings for biopharma partners and accelerating opportunities to pull-through FMI’s solutions across the drug development value chain. This position leads a team of Assay Products Leaders that drive Biopharma future direction and strategic efforts across the FMI portfolio and provide assay product leadership for FMI’s flagship platform, FoundationOne CDx.

Key Responsibilities

• Portfolio:

  • Grow and establish the Biopharma Assay Products Team within the BU and across the organization, optimizing clarity of team structure, deliverables and key interfaces.
  • Manage, coach and mentor the team, supporting professional growth and development.
  • Lead with a market driven/customer centric portfolio and global mindset, championing opportunities across our assay solutions.
  • Represent Biopharma on the Portfolio Business Team and at the leadership level.

• Lifecycle:

  • Act as a core member of the Tissue Lifecycle Team (LCT), shaping development and leading launch of new product and enhancements to FMI’s biopharma partners.
  • Translate business and market needs into customer requirements and work with the Franchise Development Lead and the cross-functional team to define product and technical requirements that satisfy market needs.
  • Together with partner leads, engage core customers as a subject matter expert supporting partnership pitches and providing feedback internally to drive continual product innovation, development and adoption.
  • Lead LCT Biopharma sub-team, accountable for delivery and implementation of launch strategy, planning and training for product enhancements relevant to the Biopharma BU.
  • Shape and deliver, in partnership with Marketing, product messaging and collateral for assay launches, changes or enhancements.
  • With input from partner leads and in collaboration with the Strategic Insights & Analytics team, lead discussions on relevant partnership trends/milestones, product development needs, and competitor movements.
  • Lead project prioritization efforts that represent a balanced view of implications on revenue and value generated from the channel via LCT strategic directions.
  • Develop business case for new product innovations for go/no-go decisions with the LCT.

• Business Unit:

  • Flag issues and propose resolutions for items affecting the BU or our partnerships; escalate as necessary.
  • As a member of Portfolio & Partner Solutions, ensure the overarching BU strategy leverages existing and future opportunities around our core assay products.
  • Account for implications with an enterprise-wide mindset across product lines and across Biopharma and Clinical customer segments.

• Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Master’s or advanced degree in business or a scientific discipline

• 12+ years of experience in product or program management or consulting in the biopharmaceutical/biotech/diagnostics industry

• 5+ years of team and people leadership experience in a matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Product launch experience gained from within biopharmaceutical or diagnostics industry

• Experience working in dynamic and growing teams; demonstrated ability to operate and deliver in a fast pace environment and with ambiguity

• Excellent understanding of companion diagnostics and their relevance to oncology drug development & commercialization

• Depth of knowledge of the global oncology therapeutics market

• Ability to translate customer insights/voice into customer/market/business requirements

• Ability to translate customer/market needs into product technical & strategic requirements

• Effective communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functionally and without authority

• Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
