Senior Financial Analyst

About the Job

The Senior Financial Analyst will play an integral role in the financial planning, reporting and analysis process for Foundation Medicine. This position partners directly with the Finance Team and cross-functional business partners on all financially-pertinent analytics, planning and reporting activities. This position also partners closely with the Director of FP&A, Business Functions to support FMI’s critical R&D functions. Additional responsibilities of this position include the development and maintenance of consolidated financial forecast models, preparing executive-level financial presentations, and other ad hoc analyses and reporting as needed. The Sr Financial Analyst works a flexible schedule as projects dictate.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Assists the FP&A Consolidation team in developing and maintaining both long-range and short-range operating plans, as well as quarterly financial forecasts
  • Assists in preparing monthly and quarterly financial performance presentations
  • Assists the Director of FP&A, Business Functions in developing and maintaining functional financial plans and perform other ad hoc duties as needed
  • Partners with functional business leaders to provide timely and relevant financial information and analyses, enabling sound decision making
  • Prepares and facilitates monthly financial reviews including the appropriate level of detail on actual vs. budget analysis and any implications to the forecast
  • Develops, builds, and maintains various reporting and planning models
  • Other ad hoc projects as necessary

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of progressive finance, accounting, or business consulting experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of prior finance, accounting, or business consulting experience
  • Experience in a fast paced, high growth environment
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and Excel financial modeling skills
  • Prior work experience with both private and public companies
  • Strong financial statement knowledge (income statements, balance sheets and cash flows)
  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated history facilitating meetings with successful results
  • Ability to partner with cross-functional leaders
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as projects dictate and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills with a great deal of attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive company data and information
  • Responsible and resourceful in finding answers and solutions when information and data is not readily available
