Senior Manager, IT Platform Owner

About the Job

The Senior Manager, Platform Owner owns service delivery (production support) for our People Technology portfolio of business-critical IT solutions. This position understands both the needs of the business and the technical platform in order to deliver business capabilities through configuration and platform administration. The role provides oversight of the day-to-day support for the IT platform and partners with vendors and the Engineering team, as needed, to ensure that business user needs are being met. The Senior Manager, IT Platform Owner possesses a strong customer service mindset and is focused on creating and delivering value for our People Team business partners through technology. This position collaborates with our team members in forming and executing the People technology roadmap with a focus on ensuring that FMI’s technology meets the needs of our business partners and stakeholders and aligns with business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • Oversees delivery and execution of People technology roadmap and support of all People technologies
  • Leads team of platform owners and manages partner relationships in the support for day-to-day operations and availability of Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management(HCM) applications
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve production systems, acting as point of escalation for platform related defects and incidents
  • Develop, plan, and manage periodic maintenance of hardware as well as software updates to systems to ensure stable system performance
  • Partner closely with vendor to stay in tune with releases, product capabilities and product roadmap
  • Provide guidance and support to business partners on business capabilities and product roadmap
  • Support vendor updates, service packs and releases, and proactive messaging for upcoming changes related to platform and possible changes needed to the application
  • Manage training and communications to business users in alignment with release schedule
  • Maintain platform and version information in IT inventory (CMDB)
  • Manage change control process and documentation for regulated and non-regulated platforms
  • Author and revise documentation of environment and operation procedures
  • Oversee regular audit of application licenses, application users and access details
  • Other duties as assigned

Project Delivery

  • Responsible for the delivery and management of new People technology features and functionality
  • Facilitate and guide requirements definition workshops with key client application users
  • Facilitate daily standups, backlog grooming, retrospectives, sprint planning, and other scrum ceremonies - or Kanban, as appropriate
  • Write clear and detailed technical user stories based on user feedback and project goals
  • Break down complex business needs into smaller, more digestible chunks of work
  • Design/configure and deliver new capability requests to business customers in a fast paced, Agile environment
  • Actively manage the team's backlog and elaborate on user stories where needed
  • Escalate blockers to Agile PM to facilitate efficient deployment of solutions
  • Collaborate with IT Business Partner to build and track the technology roadmap to support business capabilities and strategy
  • Provides thought leadership and guidance on IT platform(s) to ensure that we not only realize ROI but that we continue to realize value
  • Lead the evaluation and assessment process for selecting new People technologies
  • Accountable for all escalations to vendors
  • Coordinate IT change requests for upgrades and platform configuration changes
  • Conduct platform demos to ensure alignment with business requirements and processes
  • Prepare and deliver status updates and presentations
  • Other duties as periodically assigned


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in information technology, software development or engineering, with a focus on testing or requirements management
  • 2+ years of experience in managing technical support teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in HRIS manager or HR technology role
  • Experience implementing and administering Oracle Fusion HCM or EBusiness Suite applications
  • Experience supporting learning management software, Cornerstone preferred
  • Experience releasing Food and Drug Administration-regulated software
  • Demonstrated ability to solve various technical challenges
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision; must be a self-motivated self-starter that can initiate and execute ideas
  • Understanding of the principles of a relational database, and fluency in SQL queries
  • Familiarity with requirements definition and management related to a software development life cycle
  • Ability to utilize root cause analysis to identify problems from symptoms and implement solutions inclusively with team and business partners
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills that include effective written communication, oral communication, collaboration, and problem solving
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
