Sr Benefits Analyst

About the Job

The Senior Benefits Analyst is tasked with ensuring seamless delivery of health and welfare, compensation, and retirement benefits to all employees. The position communicates Benefit plan option, wellness and other Total Rewards initiatives, and executes the administrative tasks as well as analysis related to these initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day administration of employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, leave of absence, life and disability, transportation, and other flexible benefits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, supporting enrollment, fielding questions and resolving issues timely and efficiently.
  • Interface with outside vendors such as the insurance carriers, brokers, and wellness providers.
  • Manage benefits-related billing reconciliation and ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Help maintain employee and benefits related data in HR information systems and compile reports as needed.
  • Lead coordination of company-sponsored wellness programming, including on-site events and services, annual wellness fair, and related communications.
  • Assist with the administration of annual benefits open enrollment.
  • Support compliance related notices, reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate leave of absence and disability benefits.
  • Administer COBRA in conjunction with outsourced vendor.
  • Coordinate the company’s reward program.
  • Act as HR point of contact for the company’s volunteer programs.
  • Maintain close working relationship with Payroll, Legal, Finance and Accounting, Facilities and other internal stakeholders.
  • May survey employees and/or the market on total rewards and perform analyses with or without recommendations in a findings summary.
  • Assist in roll-out of new benefits programs.
  • Assist in analyzing benefits costs.
  • Other tasks and project to support Total Rewards and Human Resources as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible work experience in benefits, human resources, or administrative positions
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite- especially Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of progressively responsible work experience specific to benefits administration
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or similar certification
  • Working knowledge of employee insurance and flexible benefits plans
  • Understanding of COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, IRS regulations and benefits-related national and state specific laws
  • 1+ year of experience:
    • resolving complex benefits issues
    • presenting benefits-related information to an employee audience
    • supporting benefits changes and newly introduced benefits or perks
    • performing a range of benefits analyses within healthcare and/or biotechnology industries
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail
  • Excellent and articulate written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated, history of highly independent work
  • Strong interpersonal skills that include excellent skill in collaboration with other departments and colleagues
  • History of creative approaches to problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and good judgement
  • Understanding of the importance of employee and company data privacy
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-change work environment
  • Enjoy working both independently and within a team
