About the Job

The Vice President, BioPharma Marketing and Solutions is a crucial member of FMI’s BioPharma business unit and BioPharma Leadership team (BLT). This leader continually develops and operates the end-to-end marketing capability for BioPharma, from strategy to execution. The scope of this role includes defining Biopharma solutions strategy, informing FMI’s product roadmap through clear TPPs, and overseeing delivery and launch excellence. This leader is also responsible for core promotional and non-promotional marketing of all customer solutions, market insights, and internal training delivery within BioPharma. This leadership role partners closely across FMI, including R&D, Technology, Operations, Corporate Management, Commercial, Medical, and counterparts within the One Roche ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solutions Development and Lifecycle:
    • Deliver key biopharma solutions to the market, from drug discovery to therapy access and commercialization, spanning FMI’s assays, digital/data offerings, services, and analytics capabilities. 
    • Build and lead end-to-end solutions capability from customer requirements and TPPs, business cases, to launches and lifecycles, enabling financial and market leadership.
    • Represent BioPharma on FMI’s Innovation Committee to ensure pipeline and portfolio investments reflect the needs of the biopharma market voice of customer (VOC) globally and across short, medium, and long-term horizons.
    • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across multiple FMI departments (Medical, R&D, BioPharma, Technology, and Operations) to ensure strategic co-development and positioning of data, assay, and medical solutions within the portfolio.
    • Oversee and deliver integrated solutions roadmap to customers and internal teams to stimulate market demand and drive positive customer experience. 
    • Establish and oversee effective cross-functional processes to guide solutions and product development in alignment with VOC.
    • Establish and oversee effective launch excellence framework including readiness, launch, and uptake per business and long-range plans (LRPs). Input into LRPs to accurately estimate market opportunity. Assure launch collateral, pricing, contract templates, operational readiness, among others, are delivered to plan. Ensure business development team readiness to support product evolution and new launches.
  • Marketing and Brand:
    • Develop long-term (5-year) and short-term marketing goals for FMI’s molecular profiling and product portfolio that will have measurable impact on customers and business growth.
    • Deliver on key results areas that include, but are not limited to, market analysis and segment strategies, market shaping and communications, marketing collateral, congress and events, new market development, product positioning, education, and building value.
    • Actively manage external agency relationships and deliverables, ensuring a cost-effective approach.
    • In collaboration with the BioPharma Business Operations & Customer Experience team, develop and manage metrics and a reporting system to track and maintain an active awareness of marketing program success. Distill findings into actionable insights to evolve program success.
    • Leverage market research and third-party data to size the market opportunity and translate this knowledge into successful product strategy and marketing programs. Perform in-depth analysis with critical external and internal stakeholders to understand barriers.
    • Integrate marketing communication promotional plans into the marketing foundation, develop communications tools, and define key conferences that enhance the company’s presence and complement the overarching marketing business plan.
    • Establish necessary collaborative processes and forums to gather, synthesize, and communicate market insights internally.
    • Develop strong relationships with key external stakeholders in target customer segments and organizations.
  • Impact & Leadership:
    • Hire, develop, and motivate a results-oriented marketing and solutions team. Build and steward an effective organizational structure, processes, and a collaborative culture that emphasizes the achievement of both short- and long-term business objectives. 
    • Partner closely with BD and Account teams to maximize growth and support revenue and sales targets through effective solutions delivery and marketing programs
    • Collaborate with Commercial marketing to stitch together seamless market positioning and messages that benefit all customer-facing business activities.
    • Develop global relationships and build credibility with key internal cross-functional stakeholders from both Foundation Medicine and Roche.
    • Adopt a broad enterprise mindset and shape business growth and customer experience strategies.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
  • Other projects as periodically assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in scientific, marketing or business concentration, or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years diagnostic or pharmaceutical product and/or portfolio marketing experience, of which 5+ years are in oncology, including new product development experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration or other advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of work experience in upstream and downstream marketing, including biopharma and diagnostics, of which 7+ years are in Oncology 
  • 7+ years of experience leading and managing teams 
  • Globally focused marketing or sales experience and a deep understanding of the end-to-end oncology marketplace 
  • Experience building new products and solutions based on customer and unmet needs and bringing them to market successfully
  • Direct product launch experience including regulatory, access, marketing, and sales 
  • Experience building relationships with key customers, cross-functional partners, and external business partners 
  • Experience developing an organizationally aligned culture that enables team members to do their best work 
  • Familiarity with developing global marketing strategies and marketing plans to drive organizational growth
  • Knowledge of gathering industry trends, generating deep customer insights and competitive intelligence to target global market segment 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias for action and ability to deal with extreme ambiguity and rapidly changing environments 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at senior executive and stakeholder levels 
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
