About the Job

The Director, BioPharma Training & Education is accountable to drive excellence in learning through the development, execution, and oversight of effective learning & development solutions for the BioPharma business unit. The role is responsible for the learning strategy and facilitating training programs across all phases of training. Leveraging enterprise sales experience and strong training methodology, this role works closely with the internal partners and external resources to address identified sales needs, support key marketing initiatives, enhance product knowledge, improve overall selling skills, and support the ongoing developmental needs of the BioPharma customer-facing teams. The role anticipates issues, diagnoses needs, identifies solutions, and takes action to implement solutions. The position is also accountable to provide learning expertise, including implementation of new and innovative methods which incorporate adult learning principles to drive successful adoption/embedding of various learning and training programs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Training Strategy Development
    • Develops and implements a comprehensive oncology training curriculum that aligns with core competencies supporting the overall strategy; delivers curricula from onboarding new hires for the BioPharma business unit.
    • Collaborates with key cross-functional partners to ensure the training strategy and plan are aligned with the business goals, objectives and strategies
    • Conducts on-going needs analysis and leverages insights to inform the training strategies and curricula as needed.
    • Lead the design, development, and implementation of National Sales Meeting (NSM) workshops and advanced selling skills training program(s).
    • Creates and maintains a workable Training Plan to determine the goals, strategies, and tactics to be implemented to achieve financial targets. 
    • Collaborates with product marketing leads and brand marketing teams to develop, create, and deliver business acumen, product knowledge, and selling skills training for all BioPharma products.
    • Identify and share best practices for training that can be leveraged across other modalities. 
  • Design & Execution
    • Assess training needs through F2F meeting observations, surveys, interviews, and consultation with managers.
    • Design engaging and effective training curriculum and materials.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate with various departments to schedule and facilitate training sessions.
    • Manage training budgets and resources effectively.
    • Mentor, coach, and develop newly hired sales representatives during the onboarding program.
    • Develops sales training material to roll-out implementation of new selling pieces.
    • Supports sales and marketing by leading efforts around national sales meetings, POA meetings, and other training interventions.
    • Is well prepared to facilitate training and manages live or virtual classroom environment in a manner that allows learners to meet learning objectives.
    • Ensure compliance guidelines and accountabilities are clearly represented in all commercial learning material. 
  • Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
    • Works with business analytics, marketing, and leadership to determine specific metrics and measurements to assess the success of training activities.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.
    • Evaluates the competency levels of participants and provides timely evaluations and feedback.
    • Researches, develops and disseminates post event evaluations, post-training support and reinforcement tools to sustain behavioral change and drive improved performance and business outcomes.
    • Create or identify new learning concepts in order to continuously improve the quality and impact of training within BioPharma. 
    • Analyzes and improves training approach and materials on an ongoing basis to ensure high quality presentations and impact by sales representatives.
    • Maintain records of training activities and selling progress.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or science 
  • Minimum 10 years of medical sales, training, marketing and/or commercial role(s) in pharma, biotech and/or precision medicine or diagnostic
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in oncology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and delivering curricula for educational sessions and/or training for at least one (1) new product 
  • Ability to understand and learn highly complex disease areas and therapies 
  • Highly competent in enterprise selling skills in complex customer environments. Excellent facilitation, coaching/mentoring, and/or influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement key learning objectives
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
  • Excellent time management, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Manage, prioritize, and execute a diverse mix of responsibilities, with a high attention to detail.
  • Adept with establishing KPIs and leveraging insights to evaluate and improve programs 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate ideas in large groups as well as one-on-one sessions.
  • High sense of awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent business acumen, analytics assessment, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong collaboration and networking skills to be able to counsel and influence peers effectively. 
  • Strong project management experience to set and manage priorities, resources, goals, and initiatives. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities, find resolutions and act on resolutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish positive, productive team and enterprise-wide business partnerships.
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines, work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated and strong accountability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to travel approx. 30% of the time
  • Experience with Showpad and Salesforce
