About the Job

The International Business Leader (IBL) is an integral part of Foundation Medicine’s Product function and a member of the Product Leadership Team. This Senior Director position leads and oversees the creation and implementation of the global market and product strategy within their designated area through their leadership of the International Business Team (IBT). As the head of the IBT, the IBL is responsible for leading, coaching and developing a team of International Product Managers to ensure the required competencies and resources are represented within the IBT. The IBL is responsible for making decisions for the product(s) across all functions and is the single decision-maker on issues and recommendations to be presented at decision-making bodies and to executive leadership. In addition, the IBL ensures timely, on target and within budget delivery against the product strategy, including key milestones, financial targets and other quantitative and qualitative objectives and goals. As the most senior business leader within their product area, the IBL is both accountable and responsible for representing the Product organization when interfacing with the various functions across the enterprise and specifically with the US, International and Biopharma commercial teams. As a senior leader, the IBL provides their subject matter expertise as a member of FMI’s Senior Leadership Team, is the primary business contact with Roche’s Lifecycle Teams, and is a primary contributor to the health and sustainability of FMI’s global business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for directing/leading the development of short, mid and long-term (10 year) global market strategies that ensures FMI’s competitiveness within the global market and effectively addresses all key stakeholder groups: customers, providers, payers, governments and patients.
  • Accountable for driving cross-functional alignment on the prioritization of projects, initiatives or solutions and leading the necessary actions or trades-off decisions as needed.
  • Accountable for creation, monitoring and management of financial targets, budgets and forecasts of the International Business Team (IBT) and its associated products.
  • Provide effective leadership to the International Business Team (IBT), the Product Organization and Senior Leadership Team ensuring an enterprise view is incorporated when ideating, solutioning or taking decisions.
  • Lead, coach, develop and inspire a team of International Product Managers to deliver at or above expectations.
  • Design, implement and evolve (as needed) the IBT operating model in accordance with Lifecycle Management principles to ensure appropriate resourcing, work efficiency, impact and sustained performance.
  • Identify new market opportunities and manage market risks; leads/oversees the execution of all business-related plans – including branding, positioning, message strategy, pricing, PR/Communications, congresses, etc.
  • Act as a proxy for the Head of Product in key meetings, forums or decisions.
  • Develop global relationships and build credibility with key internal (FMI & Roche) cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proactively implement process improvements across the Product Organization, lead the establishment or refinement of business processes and act as a sponsor in the implementation of Lifecycle Management Processes across the enterprise.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to engage with KOLs, Customers, relevant stakeholders and attend scientific events or congresses.
  • Together with Business Development is responsible for the management and relationship interaction with partner companies and other 3rd parties.
  • Other projects as periodically assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 12+ years experience in the diagnostic, pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • 5+ years experience within Global Marketing, Lifecycle Management or similar function
  • 5+ years experience leading, coaching and developing individuals and teams
  • Previous experience in leading product launch activities/teams within the diagnostic, pharmaceutical or biotech field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree, within the Business, Science, Healthcare or Biomedical field
  • 15+ years of work experience in product marketing, preferably within medical device or diagnostics, of which 5+ years are in oncology
  • Sales experience and a deep understanding of the oncology end-to-end marketplace
  • Ability to lead, problem solve and take decisions with a high degree of autonomy through self-solutioning, experimentation and peer co-creation
  • Demonstrated executive presence through clear and precise verbal and written communication, composure and strategic thoughtfulness, even in times of uncertainty or ambiguity
  • Experience of challenging senior management in relation to data and resources
  • Excellent strategic mindset and demonstrated capability to design and implement complex commercial strategies across a highly-matrixed global organization
  • Strong understanding of regulatory space: FDA, CLIA, IVDR, PMDA, etc
  • Strong understanding of US insurance and payor landscape
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
