With an academic background of biotechnology and bioengineering and a fire inside of me to help the world in my own way, it only seemed natural to find myself with Foundation Medicine. Oncology has always fascinated me, and I knew very early on that I wanted to do something meaningful; something that would make a difference.

What is a typical day like in your role as manager of Accessioning & Client Services?

My main priority in my role is to keep operations up and running. This means supporting my teams with any requests or issues, leveraging resources, and making decisions. There are a lot of meetings around different operational or strategic topics I attend, and networking with colleagues in the U.S. and with colleagues at Roche is an important aspect of my job. I work on projects that have a huge impact on our Penzberg, Germany site, like the country transfer project, where I am collaborating with Roche and other stakeholders at Foundation Medicine to transfer more sample volume to the Penzberg site to support our ex-U.S. customers out of Europe.

Tell us about your journey at Foundation Medicine so far.

My journey at Foundation Medicine started in March 2018. I was the third team member in Client Services at our site in Penzberg. At that time, Foundation Medicine GmbH was a very small team and working here meant wearing many different hats. I contributed to building the Accessioning & Client Services teams and developing the processes that we use in that department today. In May 2019, I became the team lead, before being promoted to the manager position in July 2020. It is so thrilling to see Foundation Medicine grow from a small company with a start-up feel to such a large organization that still maintains the same sort of culture. It is even more exciting that I have been a part of this great journey so far.

How has leadership supported you in your career development?

In my career at Foundation Medicine GmbH, I have been supported and encouraged by my manager to grow and go beyond my limits. Leading two teams is something I have learned to embrace. It is a huge responsibility that I am proud of. Through my manager’s guidance and trust, I have been able to make decisions on my own and constantly develop my leadership skills.

What would you tell someone who’s considering coming to work at Foundation Medicine?

If you are looking for a job in a very innovative company and want to work with passionate, team-oriented and inspiring people, then Foundation Medicine GmbH is the right choice for you. We all love what we do and behind each test we process, there is a patient hoping to receive the best possible treatment. This is the reason why we get up in the morning.
