Our Values

Value_with_frame.png

Foundation Medicine is a mission-driven company with a strong set of values and a people-first culture. This simple set of values embodies what is important to us. The Values Project Team demonstrated our commitment to collaboration, working with employees across the organization to learn which values truly define us, and create definitions that are unique to Foundation Medicine and exemplify the ways in which we live those values each day. We rolled out our values in 2019 with a series of kick-off events in each location. These values are also an important part of our hiring process, performance reviews, #gratitude (our recognition program), and our new orientation program.

Patients

Each day, we are transforming cancer care for real people with names and families and lives that need to be lived.

How we show it:

  • We prioritize what we can do each day to best serve current and future patients
  • We make caring for ourselves and our colleagues part of our everyday work
  • We ask ourselves how our work, either directly or indirectly, supports our mission
  • We show others how our work makes a difference for the cancer community

Passion

Our passion for our work, our lives, and each other fuels us.

How we show it:

  • We show up fully every day, energized by what we care about in our work, our life, and our community
  • We allow what inspires us to drive creativity and learning within our teams
  • We model our sense of purpose for others - remember, passion is contagious
  • We celebrate and honor patients, our coworkers, and the Foundation Medicine teams

Innovation

We seek out new ideas big and small that disrupt the status quo.

How we show it:

  • We are courageous by constantly championing better ways to do things and taking the lead in making it happen
  • We use failure as an opportunity to learn, iterate, and move forward
  • We imagine what’s possible - we don’t allow pragmatism to stand in the way of bold ideas
  • We embrace ideas from others by building on the positive and adding new ways of thinking to overcome issues

Collaboration

Working together multiplies our talents and unleashes our potential.

How we show it:

  • We are curious and partner across the company to drive shared progress - there is no mine vs. yours
  • We constantly reach across and outside the organization to find better ways to serve patients and the broader cancer community
  • We are quick to give and accept support in all circumstances - we are all one team working to support our mission
  • We serve as an active ambassador for Foundation Medicine and our values by openly welcoming, supporting, and teaching new team members
