Team Spotlight: GPS Field and Business Enablement
Sam, Senior Director, Field & Business Operations
I joined Foundation Medicine in June of 2021, after 17 years at a company I that I thought I would never leave. I had been interested in Foundation Medicine as a company for some time, but since I cannot relocate, I could only hope that the company would move out west. I was thrilled when I learned that the company had introduced some more flexible working options for certain departments.
What impressed me from day one was the shared mission to transform cancer care. I currently lead the Field and Business Enablement (FBE) team focused on our Commercial and Biopharma business units. Within FBE, we have several teams that work together to provide solutions around Field Operations, Training and Data Analytics.
- The Field & Business Operations team partners to bring tools and resources to our commercial and biopharma teams. Reporting, targeting, and incentive compensation design complement the standard operations work that our team provides.
- The Product and Capability Training team provides the expertise to enhance knowledge, develop skills and enrich the customer facing organization.
- The Data Analytics team is core to making data-driven decisions a reality through thoughtful questioning and analysis.
A common thread across FBE is that our people possess traits of intellectual curiosity, resilience, drive, and the passion that comes with knowing your efforts ultimately result in better outcomes for patients. Important work should be challenging and fun, and to that end, we strive for an environment of casual intensity.
FBE is part of the larger Global Portfolio Strategy (GPS) Team, where we work together and across the company to guide Foundation Medicine’s journey and develop the strategy that enables us to work toward our mission of transforming cancer care. Our FBE teams play an important strategic role within GPS, aligning processes, insights, and training to ensure that the organization has the resources they need to successfully execute their roles.
With our proven portfolio of tests, there is an incredible opportunity within FBE to help advance Foundation Medicine into a mature commercial organization. I am energized each and every day by the people I am fortunate to partner with as we work together to build something special.
