The Coaster
Think about where coasters tend to be.
They’re on a kitchen table. On a desk. At a bar. Around a table with friends. Over coffee in the morning or a drink at the end of the day.
They’re in places where people come together.
Places where we talk. Where we laugh. Where we tell stories. Where we debate things. Where we celebrate. And sometimes, where we have the conversations that really matter.
And when I think about our time together, those are the things I’m going to remember most.
I’ll remember the conversations.
I’ll remember the laughter.
I’ll remember the hard moments and the great ones.
I’ll remember the things we challenged one another on, the things we accomplished together, and the times we simply showed up for one another.
We laughed together. We cried together. We pushed each other. We became friends. And somewhere along the way, we became #OnePeopleTeam.
So I wanted to give you something you might actually keep. Something that might sit on your desk or on a table in your home long after today.
And maybe someday, five or ten years from now, you’ll put down a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, see this coaster, and for just a moment, you’ll remember this chapter.
Hopefully you’ll remember some of the crazy moments.
Hopefully you’ll remember some of the great things we accomplished.
But most of all, I hope you remember the people who were sitting around the table with you.
Because ultimately, that’s what I’ll remember.
The people.
All of you.
It’s just a coaster. But I hope the memories it represents are a whole lot bigger than that.
I'll leave Foundation Medicine incredibly proud of what we built together, but even more grateful for who I got to build it with.
With my gratitude. Andrew
