About the Job

Foundation Medicine is seeking an experienced commercial leader to build, maintain and execute a commercial strategy that drives engagement with external leading and emerging experts and key opinion leaders (KOLs) for its current and future portfolio of products. Reporting to the Senior Director, Downstream Marketing, in collaboration with external experts and KOLs, this individual will lead development and execution of commercial peer-to-peer activities, including content creation, speaker bureau creation, launch and management, advisory boards, integration of external experts and KOLs into congresses, and case study/testimonials, while ensuring all activities are aligned to Foundation Medicine's commercial strategy. This role will collaborate with many stakeholders across Foundation Medicine, including but not limited to Commercial (including Field Leadership), Corporate Communications, Compliance, Legal, Regulatory and Medical Affairs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of strategic and tactical plans to drive commercial engagement with external experts for Foundation Medicine's current and future portfolio of products.
  • Aligned with strategic and tactical plans for external expert engagement, lead development and execution of commercial peer-to-peer activities, inclusive of content creation; speaker bureau creation, launch and management; advisory boards; integration of external experts and KOLs into congresses, and case study/testimonials.
  • Engage across functions to identify and select external experts and KOLs for peer-to-peer opportunities.
  • Routinely interface external experts and KOLs through field travel, conferences, ad boards, and other opportunities for engagement.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to maximize external expert engagement opportunities.
  • Successfully and compliantly exchange knowledge, gather insights and build advocacy with external experts and KOLs.
  • Provide insights and learnings back to Foundation Medicine cross-functional teams as appropriate and within compliance guidelines.
  • Generate insights through use of market research and analytics and translate these into external expert strategy and tactical plan development.
  • Actively partner with internal teams during commercial planning for new product launches to ensure integration of KOLs and external experts into launch plans.
  • Support the execution of contracts with external experts and KOLs as needed.
  • Develop and execute a Request for Proposal to identify and select an agency for speaker bureau creation and management.
  • Manage selected agency to produce deliverables within timeline and allocated budget.
  • Build and maintain detailed understanding of precision oncology and comprehensive genomic profiling market, in general and by tumor type, including competitive landscape, and Foundation Medicine's current and future portfolio of products.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to key internal and external stakeholders and audiences.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or Life Sciences.
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare diagnostics marketing and/or commercial sales.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience engaging external experts and KOLs
  • Ability to develop, rationalize, and present strategy 
  • Ability to translate strategy into tactical execution 
  • Familiarity with primary and secondary market research and data analysis
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and resourcefulness 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Strong organizational, planning and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment 
  • Able to understand highly technical and scientific information and translate into easy-to-understand content 
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships 
  • Experience and proficiency with monthly, quarterly, and annual budget management
  • Previous experience building out commercial content
  • Experience managing and leading agency partners and external vendors
  • Experience working with and managing cross-functional teams and projects
  • Demonstrated success working with Legal, Medical, Compliance and Regulatory review teams
  • MS Office Proficiency (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Unquestionable ethics and integrity 
  • MBA
  • Oncology experience
  • Product launch experience 
  • Commercial field/sales experience a plus 
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of patient data privacy

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Remote is $182,400 - $228,000 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicine’s compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicine's benefits.
