About the Job:

The Program Director, MRD is accountable for creation of the long-term strategic vision and product roadmaps for Roche MRD and delivery of product/portfolio solutions in line with the strategy. The incumbent leads a cross-functional Program Core team of key leaders through strategy creation and delivery of projects aligned to the roadmap of MRD clinical diagnostic portfolio solutions. This role requires expertise in molecular diagnostics development, creative and strategic thinking, and strong enterprise leadership capabilities across multiple disciplines and divisions.

This role leads a team that is comprised of talent from across the Roche ecosystem, including Roche Diagnostics, Roche Pharma and FMI, operating as a single unit. Reporting into FMI Head of Product, the Program Lead leads an exciting Product Franchise driving innovative diagnostics to improve cancer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable enterprise Leader for the MRD Program
  • Lead the MRD Program Core team to establish and deliver on vision and product roadmaps
  • Provide structured thinking on strategy, roadmaps and execution of development activities, including project team oversight
  • Guide team in making decisions on business outcomes, product strategy, and portfolio delivery leveraging understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, enterprise technical capabilities, clinical evidence plans and reimbursement landscape
  • Single point of accountability for program budget, resources, and decision making for enterprise MRD portfolio Initiates engagement and establishes alignment with teams across the assay/application portfolio to drive strategic decisions on clinical reporting and medical insights, globally across FMI and RDS
  • Establish the proper frameworks / guardrails to ensure long-term Diagnostic platform needs (e.g. Axelios, Lightcyler) are considered in short-term decision making
  • Primary liaison to FMI Product, RDS Molecular customer area, and Roche Pharma to understand interrelated enterprise strategy, customer needs, and communicate MRD program strategy and status
  • Ensure the team is working together on delivery of remit and facilitate removal of roadblocks and holds team members accountable
  • Identify and coach leaders and key talent within team to accomplish goals and develop team members including managing solid line and dotted line reports
  • Engage Steering committee regularly on the progress and decisions needed for the program, escalates decisions, risks and challenges as needed, ensures alignment to enterprise strategy in intersecting domains to MRD program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant life science field or business
  • 15+ years of experience in life science research/industry 
  • 10+ years in Leadership experience in biotechnology product development, including end to end product lifecycle
  • 5+ years of experience within the NGS market

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in relevant life sciences or business field
  • Detailed knowledge of clinical diagnostic product development and related technologies including NGS, PCR etc
  • Cross enterprise/functional experience within the Roche organization
  • Understanding of clinical diagnostic markets and customer and establishing clinical validity/utility of new diagnostic products
  • Understanding of the global regulatory frameworks and the associated access, coverage and reimbursement landscape
  • Proven ability framing and solving complex problems and the ability to interpret and communicate them effectively within the team and to leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships based on trust both internal and external to an organization
  • Effectively manages complex teams within a matrix environment and inspiring and guiding teams to deliver results
  • Leads with an enterprise mindset and leverages network of broad Roche organization
  • Builds and grow team members, ensuring they are equipped to execute effectively 
  • Agile working mentality
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work alongside a team to reach ambitious goals communicates powerfully, to influence at all levels of the enterprise

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Boston, MA is $213,840-$267,300 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicines compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicine's benefits.
