About the Job

The Medical Reporting Curator, Genomics Analysis & Reporting (GAR) is integrated within a team of scientists and analysts to perform dry lab analysis and interpretation steps of next generation sequencing data in a high-complexity clinical diagnostic laboratory. In addition, this position contributes to the collection and presentation of quality metrics and scientific development related to content generation to support the creation of high-quality, personalized diagnostic reports for each patient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply scientific knowledge to improve and advance FMI’s clinical oncology knowledgebase.
  • Collaborate with other FMI scientists and analysts to review and refine existing medical content.
  • Organize, refine, and revise report information into concise and comprehensive formats for patient and physician to understand.
  • Retrieve database content to prepare reports describing patient test results.
  • Review genomic variant calls using proprietary and publicly available tools, including but not limited to the Integrative Genomics Viewer (IGV), in close collaboration with the scientific team
  • Provide test results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with the best possible quality within defined turn-around times
  • Update database content per SOPs.
  • Provide on-call support for GAR.
  • Contribute to software development processes to support reporting projects.
  • Contribute to development projects relating to reporting improvements.
  • Contribute to additional projects in support of broader GAR and FMI projects, as needed.
  • Deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or closely related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience; OR Master’s degree and 3+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or closely related field
  • Ability to perform careful work under deadline pressure
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of patient safety and data privacy regulations and guidelines

The Foundation Medicine team in Penzberg consists of several groups, such as Laboratory Operations, Client Services & Accessioning, Computational Biology, Quality Assurance, Automation Engineering, Project management, Finance and IT.
